Considered by many to be the greatest athlete of all time, Lance Armstrong wore this suit in the Stage 19 50-kilometer Time Trial of the 2002 Tour de France on July 27, 2002. Armstrong won the stage, his fourth during that Tour, and went on to capture the General Classification in the Tour De France (his fourth in a row). Armstrong was named Sports Illustrated "Sportsman of the Year" in 2002. He won his first Tour de France title in 1998, and went on to win an unprecedented seven Tours in a row, retiring after his 2005 victory. Extremely strong in both the Time Trials and in the mountains, he has won a total of 25 stages of the race in his career. He also holds the record for number of days in the "Yellow Jersey," indicative of the race leader. Before each stage, the race leader is furnished with a yellow team kit that includes jersey, jacket, vest, etc. However, the Time Trial suits are only provided to the rider when he is the overall leader prior to the Tour's three time trial stages. The yellow top and black bottom one-piece spandex-type Time Trial Skinsuit has a white nylon zipper down front. On the inside back collar is a manufacturers tag with the size "M-3-48" on it. On the front and back of the jersey and on the sides, front legs and seat of the shorts is the "USPS" logo in blue, white and red. On the top right front is the "Nike Swoosh" logo and the official "2002 Tour de France" logo in black. On the top left front and on the sides is "CREDIT LYONNAIS" in blue. The "Nike Swoosh" logo in black is also on the sleeves. The "Credit Lyonnaise" logo in blue also appears on both sleeves and on the collar. The 'Nike Swoosh" logo in white is also on the front legs and on the seat. Below the "USPS" logo on both front and back is the "TREK" logo name. The crotch and seat of the suit are reinforced with padding. Inside the lower back is a sewn-in pocket that held the radio during the race. The suit shows excellent signs of wear with light sweat stains around neckline and chest. There are small pin holes where the rider number was held in place. This suit is matched in detail by photos of Armstrong during the race and is accompanied by a LOA.
