Academy Award winning actor Paul Newman took up auto racing after starring in the 1968 movie "Winning," in which he played an Indy Car driver. In 1977 he finished seventh in the 24 hours of Daytona, and followed that up by placing second in the 24 hours of La Mans in 1979. Newman has won four SCCA National titles, his first coming in 1976. A two-time professional Trans Am Race victor, he is co-owner of the Newman/Haas Racing Team. White helmet with black trim around face opening and around neck opening. On the top front of the helmet is the "Bell" manufacturers sticker. There are metal snaps for attachment of a clear face shield. On the right side of the helmet is a chicken in natural colors with a black and white checkered egg on green grass. On the left side of the helmet is "PLN" in black on red and yellow . On the bottom rear of the helmet is "PAUL NEWMAN / TETANUS 72 / BLOOD 0+ / AGE 49 / ALLERGIES NONE" in black. The inside of the helmet has custom-formed foam covered in black fabric. There is a manufacturers tag with safety code information on the inside top of the helmet. The black leather chin strap has a white metal buckle. The helmet shows great use with scratches on the rear and the top. The clear face shield is missing.
