Collection of four rare U.S. gold type set proof coins from the early 20th century, encased in a Capital 420G plastic holder. There is a 1909 $5.00 Indian Head half eagle (issued 1908-1915), which is one of only two U.S coins done in incusive relief, where the portraits and inscriptions are sunk below the surface rather than protruding from it. This coin weighs 8.359 grams and is 90% gold. The other incusive relief coin is included as well: a 1915 $2.50 Indian Head quarter eagle weighing 4.18 grams with the same composition. Next is a last-year issue 1907 $10.00 liberty coronet eagle (issued 1866-1907), weighing 16.718 grams and composed of 90% gold. Finally, there is a 1910 $20.00 double eagle (issued 1908-1915) known as the "Saint-Gaudens" after its sculptor. It is widely recognized as a masterpiece of numismatic art and is considered the most beautiful U.S. coin ever made. "Liberty" is surrounded by 46 stars for each state in the Union. This coin weighs 33.436 grams and is 90% gold. The $10.00 and $20.00 coins are rare, as fewer were produced due to lower demand for these denominations; at that time, these amounts were still considered a lot of money.
