Rising in the ranks to become one of Rome's great generals, Aurelian served as Roman Emperor from 270 to 275 AD. His rule was marked by a brilliant series of public woks projects, but he was assassinated in 275 AD. Measuring 7/8" in diameter, this silver coin is in the "antoninianus" or "double dinarii" denomination, distinguished by the use of a radiate crown on the front portrait as opposed to the traditional laurel wreath. On the reverse is a woman presenting a wreath to Aurelian, extending arm and holding spear with star in center. Grades Very Fine.
