The Sassanids were the last native dynasty to reign in Persia before the Arab conquest. This silver AR drachma was minted during the second reign of the Sassanid King Kavad I, who ruled from 498 to 530 AD. Measuring 1 1/8" in diameter, it features a right-facing portrait of Kavad on the front and an altar on the back. Grades Very Fine.
