Commonly referred to as "Legal Tenders" because of their stated payment obligation, these notes were issued in eight Series', with this scarce Speelman-White note being issued in the eighth (1923) Series. Featuring a portrait of George Washington in the center, the faces and backs of this Series is a complete new design from the previous Series. Overprinted with a small red scalloped seal on the left and red serial numbers with a large red ornate "1" on the right, grades Almost Uncirculated.
