The Tide Water Oil Company was an old east coast oil company that started using the "Tydol" brand name around 1915. Merging with the Associated Oil Company in 1926 and adopting part of their flying wings "A" emblem to form a new logo. By 1970, the last "Flying A" branded gas station had closed, having been bough out by Getty / Phillips 66. This vintage 1950s gas pump measures 22" wide x 16" deep x 62" tall. Painted in key lime green, the top backlit glass (both sides) reads ""Flying A Super Extra" in white letters on red background. On the front is a circular plaque which reads "Tydol Flying A" in red, white, black and green. On each side is a white sign that reads "For use as a motor fuel only, contains lead, tetraethyl." On two sides there are doors that open to reveal the pumping mechanism inside, which shows some rust. The top half of each door is cut away to reveal a white porcelain price plate, with dials that indicate gallons and price. In the center of this plate is a glass globe housing a red and green propeller, which reads "Glass must be full before and after delivery." On the left side is the hose and nozzle with two towel racks. On the right side is a turning knob (unknown use) and a manufacturer's plaque (National, Fort Wayne, IN) with model "62PEH" and serial number "N05774 6 51." Pump appears to have been repainted, otherwise is all original and in overall EXMT-NRMT condition with some paint chips and some scratching on the price plates. This item will be expensive to ship.
