First patented in 1912, the Boyce "Moto Meter" was a radiator mounted temperature meter. It was a type of thermometer incorporated into the radiator cap or the radiator itself, allowing the operator to view the coolant vapor temperature right on top of the hood. The Moto Meter became a somewhat universal hood ornament of the 1920s. This beautiful 1920s Boyce Moto Meter with decorative brass eagle wings measures 3" tall x 9" wide and is mounted to a wood base. The front glass reads "Boyce Moto Meter, Made Especially For The Ford Car, The Moto-Meter Co. Inc., Long Island City, NY, USA." It is in overall NRMT condition, with the wings being EXMT.
