Collection of five rare Chevrolet hood ornaments from the 1930s to 1950s. These chrome masterpieces include a 1934 Eagle and examples from 1949, 1952, and two others from the 1950s. Three have been mounted to wood bases. They show varying degrees of pitting, which is the main aging condition of hard chrome. Chrome is generally plated over steel, but needs oxygen to retain its brightness; when it "pits" it is actually pulling away from its substrate, but can easily be re-plated.
