In Joe McCarthy's first year as manager, the 1931 Yankees scored more runs than any team in history with 1067 and hit 155 home runs. 1931 was also the year that the next great Yankee, Mickey Mantle, was born. This cream colored red and blue stitched "Babe Ruth Home Run Special" baseball is signed in black fountain pen by 21 members of the 1931 New York Yankees. Signatures include Babe Ruth on the sweet spot, Lou Gehrig, Dusty Rhodes, Henry Johnson, Lyn Lary, Dusty Cooke, Red Ruffing (signed "Chas Ruffing"), George Pipgras, Art Jorgens, Jimmie Reese, Joe Sewell, Earle Combs, Vernon Gomez, Paul Andrews, Bill Dickey, Cy Perkins, Tony Lazzeri, Sam Byrd and Myril Hoag. Ball has been shellacked and shows some toning and spotting. Signatures grade an overall 7-8 with the Ruth and Gehrig grading a strong 8. Accompanied by a LOA from James Spence Authentication.
