Rare scorecard from the May 2, 1939 game at Briggs Field between the Yankees and the Tigers, which the Yankees won 6-3. On April 30, 1939 Lou Gehrig had played in his record 2130th consecutive game, a streak that lasted until Cal Ripken Jr. played in 2131 over 50 years later. This May 2nd game would have been Gehrig's 2131st, but ailing from the disease that would eventually take his life, Gehrig benched himself for this game and would never play again. He took the lineup card out to the umpires before the game, with Babe Dahlgren penciled in as his replacement. This fold-out historic scorecard has been scored and is in overall EX-EXMT condition with some folding and creasing.
