Perhaps the most famous baseball picture ever taken, this photo pictures Babe Ruth at Yankee Stadium on June 13, 1948 on "Babe Ruth Day," when his number was retired by the Yankees. The photo was taken by legendary photographer Nat Fein, the Pulitzer Prize winning photographer for the New York Herald Tribune who was assigned to cover Yankee Stadium in 1948. The photo was entitled "The Babe Bows Out," as Ruth would pass away two months later; it is this photo that won Fein the prestigious Pulitzer. The image, taken on an overcast day using natural lighting, perfectly captures the somber mood as America said goodbye to one of its heroes. Framed to 16" x 20", this printing of the photo off of the original negative was limited to 500, this one being number 214. The photo bears Nat Fein's gold ink signature on the lower right and "214/500" written in pencil on the left border. Accompanied by a LOA from James Spence Authentication.
