Upon the United States' entry into World War II, more than 500 Major Leaguers left baseball to serve in the American armed forces, including HOFers Ted Williams, Bob Feller and Yogi Berra. Back at home, baseball provided entertainment to those who worked to support the war effort. Babe Ruth, having already retired from professional baseball, also did all he could to help the boys overseas, serving as a spokesman for United States War Bonds. This fantastic 8" x 10" black and white photograph pictures Babe Ruth helping load a box of 1943 World Series game film into a transport airplane bound for the U.S. Army O.M.P.S. Film Exchange in New Delhi, India. The photo has been signed in green fountain pen by the Bambino and reads "Best Wishes, Yours, Babe Ruth." The signature and inscription rate a near perfect 10. This photograph has been professionally matted and framed, completely ready to hang. Accompanied by a LOA from James Spence Authentication.
