Derek Jeter is the heart and soul of the New York Yankees on and off the field. With his charity work off the field and his team leadership on the field, no wonder he is the most popular Yankee. The shortstop has helped the Yankees to six World Series, winning four World Championships. Jeter was the 1996 AL Rookie of the Year and 2000 World Series MVP. His MVP award in the 2001 All Star Game was the first given to a Yankee player. In 2003, Derek Jeter was named as only the 11th team captain in Yankee history. Worn opening night, April 3, 2005 vs. the Boston Red Sox, Jeter had two hits including a double and scored two runs in this jersey. On the front left tail of this jersey is the "Majestic" manufacturers tag with a series of flag tags attached reading size "48" and another tag that reads "2005". Inside the left seam of the jersey is a wash tag with code "0062" on it. On the left breast of is the "NY" logo in navy blue tackle twill. On the back is the player number "2" in navy blue tackle twill. On the back outside collar is the embroidered official "MLB" logo. The infield dirt of Yankee Stadium is still all over the front of this jersey. Major League Baseball Hologram. The jersey shows game use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
