State of New York Legislative Resolution prompting then Governor Mario Cuomo to proclaim May 15, 1991 "Joe DiMaggio Day in the State of New York." Signed by NY State Senator Maltese and dated May 14, 1991, this 8-1/2" x 14" parchment bears the seal of The Senate of the State of New York with two purple ribbons, in MINT condition. Reads in part "Whereas, The Month of May 1991 marks the 50th anniversary of one of Major League Baseball's most enduring records, Joe DiMaggio's 56 game hitting streak...Resolved, That the people of the State of New York celebrate May 15, 1991 with appropriate ceremonies and activities ..." Our consignor received this item directly from Senator Maltese. The only other know document of this type is hanging in Cooperstown, NY at the Baseball Hall of Fame.
