Ernie Nevers played for the Chicago Cardinals from 1929-1931. In 1929, he scored 40 points in one game in a 40-6 win over the Chicago Bears. He was a charter enshrinee in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1963. In his 54 game career, he passed for 25 TDs, ran for 38, kicked 7 field goals and scored 52 extra points. This brown leather full size helmet has "NEVERS" printed inside in black ink on one of the four crown stitches. It appears to be hand sewn and hand stitched, made with fine leather and padding. The ear flaps are solid, not flapping with 1-1/4" holes in each one. The leather shows some cracking and fading both inside and out but is in overall very good condition considering its age. It shows an excellent amount of usage. Originally came from the Duke Hott collection.
