Bruce P. Smith was an American football player best known for winning the Heisman Trophy in 1941. He attended the University of Minnesota where he played halfback for the back to back National Champions Gophers in 1940 and 1941. He briefly played in the National Football League with the Green Bay Packers (1945-48) and Los Angeles Rams (1948). In 1972, Smith was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. These are his sixteen Fairbault High School Letters. They are Lowe & Campbell capital "F"'s, green with white trim. A few have writing on the back indicating the sport he received that individual letter for. They are all in very good condition with a couple showing fraying along the edges. There is also his High School sketch pad with drawings of Donald Duck and other characters sketched in pencil, some even autographed which could quite possibly be his earliest recorded signature. Last is his US Navy Recognition Manual, signed under the cover rating an 8-9. The manual contains his notes and drawings and is mostly intact. The cover has been removed but is intact and in overall very good condition. Accompanied by a LOA from James Spence Authentication.
