Septimius Severus, the CIC of the Roman Army in North Africa, reigned from 193-211 A.D. He was born of African descent in 145 A.D., moved to Rome and became a Senator in 175 A.D. This silver AR denarius was minted during his reign and measures 5/8" in diameter. Featuring a laureate bust on the front and an archer on the reverse, it has been slabbed and graded ICG-F12.
