Authorized by President Clinton to commemorate the opening of the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian, this "American Buffalo Dollar" coin was issued in 2001 and contains 90% silver. The design is based on the original buffalo nickel and has an Indian head on the front. Mintmark "D" for Denver on the reverse, this silver dollar has been encapsulated and graded MS-68 by ANACS.
