The Meilink Mfg Co. has been making vaults since 1899. This is a Meilink safe measuring 14" x 9-1/2" x 8-1/4". It is quite sturdy and heavy weighing approximately 50 pounds. It is solid steel in construction with a 12" x 1-1/2" which has "MEILINK'S HOME DEPOSIT VAULT C.C. PERRY. GUARANTEED FIRE & WATER PROOF" stenciled in gold lettering on it. It opens left to right on two 2-1/2" silver hinges. At the center on the left side of the door is a 1" round swivel locking/unlocking device that screws into the inner part of the safe. There is also a 1/2" keyhole on the outer door but there is no key. The inner space measures 9-3/4" x 5-3/4" and is painted silver but has some chipping with rust seeping through. There is a 1-3/4" x 3" silver handle on the top and is very sturdy and intact. On the outer right panel has "MAKERS THE MEILINK MFG CO. SPECIALTY MANUFACTURES TOLEDO. O U.S.A." stenciled in gold on a 2" x 3-1/2" logo. The outside of the safe shows some wear having some rust spots on the top and sides and is marked up along the edges. It is in very good condition considering its age.
