A terrific example of an old time barber's towel steamer, this antique stands over 55" high. The steaming and heating compartments stand on four legs with ornately worked couplings. There are three valves with brass fittings for water and gas feeds. The bottom compartment has a ring of holes through which steam can escape, the hinged upper lid recedes into the spherical roof to expose the towel compartment, from which hot towels could be extracted. On top is a plaque which reads "Hot Towel Sterilizer, The Globe". On the sphere is a plaque which reads "The Chisholm Company, 178 Centre St., New York." In overall EXMT condition, very clean with light tarnishing. This item will be expensive to ship.
