Established in 1874 Michigan on the St. Clair River, Chris-Craft has a heritage that is unequaled in the boat industry. In its 130 year history, the company has built over a quarter million boats, with a customer list that included two Presidents (FDR and Kennedy) as well as stars from Henry Ford to Elvis Presley. By 1927, Chris-Craft has become the world's largest manufacturer of mahogany boats. This one-of-a-kind mahogany speedboat model was designed and built in the 1930s by a Chris-Craft engineer for a custom boat that he wanted to personally build; it was not built for the Chris-Craft Company per se and is therefore absolutely unique. It measures 33" long x 6" high x 10" wide and features everything that you would find on actual speedboat of the period. Includes miniature working running lights, compass, rudder, metal exhaust pipes, realistic dashboard, white leather seating on the front and rear seats, steering wheel, life ring with rope, anchor and a "Chris-Craft" red, white and blue flag on the bow. The boat is painted green below the water line and pure mahogany above. The boat's greatest feature is a fully functional propeller powered by a small electric motor, with two "D" size batteries located inside the ship's hull. The vessel's name "Mahogany Dreams, Lake George" is on the stern of the boat in gold lettering. There is a registration number on side of the boat reading "MS 49635" in gold decal lettering. A beautiful vintage example with incredible, meticulous attention to detail including a hand-hammered metal bow, the boat sits nicely on top of a 5" x 14" black lacquered base and is in EX-EXMT condition.
