A natural athlete blessed with tremendous power, a rifle arm and a durable body, Eddie Mathews was the premier third baseman of his era. A feared left-handed slugger, Mathews became the seventh player in major league history to hit 500 home runs, finishing his career with 512. His powerful stroke and bat speed were marveled at by opponents. Eddie Mathews was the only man to play for the Boston Braves, Milwaukee Braves, and Atlanta Braves. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1978. In the neck of the jersey is the "MacGregor" label with the size "42." In the inside front of this jersey another MacGregor label reading "Set 1 1965." Under this is a wash instructions tag. Across the front of the jersey is the name "Braves" in script-style letters. The player number "41" appears on both the left breast and on the back of the shirt. The letters and numbers are made of red on blue tackle twill. On the right front is an autograph which rates an 8. On the left sleeve is the "Braves Head" patch. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no other alterations of any kind. Accompanied by a LOA from James Spence Authentication and an additional LOA. Mears graded A8.
