Gorgeous turn-of-the-century barber's chair, a stock MGM prop the likes of which were used in films such as "The Time Machine" (1960) and Charlie Chaplin's "The Great Dictator" (1940). Whether this is the same exact chair later used in The Time Machine is open to debate, but there is no question that it is the same manufacturer, Berninghaus. The chair stand 50" tall with the headrest, wood and iron, adjustable foot-operated lever, green cloth upholstery with yellow riveted trim, four legs rather than pedestal base. On the back are two plaques which read "Climax" and "Berninghaus, Manufacturer, Cincinnati, O," respectively. The footrest appears to be a replacement and reads "Emil J. Paidar Company, Chicago." In EXMT condition with some wear on the wood and cloth. This item will be expensive to ship.
