Incredible circa 1910s-1920s rural post office window made of oak and brass, measures approximately 47" tall x 71" wide x 10" deep. Hand painted on the front is "U.S. Post Office, Made By Postmasters Supply Co., Indianapolis, IND, Kansas City, MO." There are several slots on both sides and above, with wire bottoms rather than shelving. Many of these slots were used as "post office boxes" and utilized the trust system, as they go all the way through. Many of these slots have their original enameled number plaques still attached. The remainder of the slots were for the clerk's use only, for holding forms and what not. In the center is the stamp/cashier's window with shelf and latched doors. In excellent condition with some obvious wear to the wood. This item will be expensive to ship.
