While still a student at Cornell, Christopher Reeve was one of only two students (the other was Robin Williams) selected to study at New York's famous Juilliard School of Performing Arts under the renowned John Houseman. Best known for his blockbuster film role as "Superman," Christopher Reeve was paralyzed after a horse riding accident in 1995. Ironically, he was making a film on horseback riding safety at the time. He passed away in 2004 a the age of 52, after several years of living and working with his severe disability. This is the full Superman costume worn by Christopher Reeve in the film that made him a household name, "Superman." Included is a blue poly long sleeve tunic with red and yellow poly "S" emblem sewn in, zipper back with poly red trunks with four belt loops sewn on. The red trunks are attached to the bottom of the blue tunic. There is a pair of size 34 blue poly tights with footing sewn on, elastic is sewn into the waist and the tights are the same color and consistency as the tunic. There is a yellow belt 34" long x 2" wide made of vinyl with a yellow backing and a yellow plastic buckle that hooks/ties in the back. There is a pair of size 12 knee high soft red leather boots with full length brass zippers on the back and full length velcro zipper cover flaps. Finally, there is a crimson red wool blend walking cape, 60" long, with a yellow poly "S" emblem with black outline of the "S" emblem embroidered/stitched on. Cape has red 36" straps at the top that tie under the arms to secure the cape to the shoulders. Cape is padded with cotton at the shoulders and has a white label sewn onto the satin upper lining, reading "K. Kolar, refurb 10-82 #6." This costume is accompanied by four detailed LOA's from Jim Hambrick, the "Supermuseum" owner/curator and the owner of "The largest Superman collection in the world."
