Moving from the NBA's Phoenix Suns to the ABA's Virginia Squires for the 1970-1971 season, Neil Johnson was an All-Star in his first year in the new league. The 1970-1971 Squires were a powerful, fast-breaking squad. They ran to 55 victories and won the ABA's Eastern Division by 11 games over the Kentucky Colonels. Johnson's rugged style was a good fit in the ABA, and he quickly took on the role of the team's "enforcer" and became a fan favorite. On the left front tail of the jersey is the "Wilson" manufacturer's wash tag with the jersey size "42" on it. Across the front of the jersey is "VIRGINIA." Below that and on the back is the player number "24." Across the back is "JOHNSON" on a red nameplate. All lettering is done in white on blue tackle twill. The jersey shows great game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
