David Wright was chosen by the Mets in the 2001 amateur draft. He progressed steadily in his first three years of minor league play, quickly rising from the class AA, Binghamton, to the AAA Norfolk Tides and finally to the major leagues. On July 21, 2004, he made his major league debut starting at third base against the Montreal Expos and has been the Mets starting third baseman ever since. On the left front tail is the "Rawlings" manufacturer's tag. Across the front of is "Norfolk" done in blue on orange tackle twill. Inside the rear collar is a "Rawlings" size tag reading "XL."
