The 1927 New York Yankees are widely recognized as the greatest team in baseball history. With a potent lineup known as "Murderer's Row," New York outscored their opponents by a record 376 runs, scoring 975 of them, and hit .307 as a team. Babe Ruth set a single-season mark with 60 homers, hitting more homers alone than any other American League team. Lou Gehrig had his first big season, batting .373 with 47 homers and a league-leading 175 RBIs. Ruth's outfield mates, Earle Combs in center and Bob Meusel in left, hit .356 and .337, respectively. The pitching staff boasted four men who won 18 or more wins, led by Waite Hoyt at 22-7. With a 110-44 record, the Yankees ran away with the American League pennant, winning by 19 games. For an encore, they swept the Pittsburgh Pirates in the World Series. This red and blue stitched Reach OAL (Johnson) baseball has been signed in black fountain pen by 13 members of that stories team. Signatures include HOFer Babe Ruth on the sweet spot, HOFers Waite Hoyt, Tony Lazzeri and Earle Combs, Benny Bengough, George Pipgras, Joe Dugan, Bob Meusel, Mark Koenig, Ray Morehart, Dutch Ruether, Cedric Durst and Ben Paschal. Ball is nicely toned with two panels that exhibit some soiling, signatures grade an overall 8 with slight rubbing on the "h" in "Ruth." Accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
