One of the greatest race car drivers of all-time, Dale Earnhardt Sr. was best known for his career driving stock cars in NASCAR's top division. Best known for his success in the Winston Cup Series, now known as the Nextel Cup Series, he won seventy-six races (including his only Daytona 500 victory in 1998) and his seven championships (1980, 1986, 1987, 1990, 1991, 1993, 1994) are tied for most all-time with Richard Petty. His highly aggressive driving style made him a fan favorite and earned him the nicknames "Ironhead" and "The Intimidator." He was the only driver in history to win the NASCAR Winston Cup Rookie of the Year and the NASCAR Winston Cup Championship in consecutive seasons (1979, 1980). He was a two-time American Driver of the Year (1986, 1994) and five-time National Motorsports Press Association Driver of the Year (1980, 1986, 1987, 1990, 1994). Tragically, Earnhardt died in a last-lap crash during the 2001 Daytona 500. This racing suit was worn by Earnhardt as he raced to victory at the Winston Select 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, possibly the fastest race track in the world, on May 1, 1994. It is white, full length with zippered front. Predominant Goodwrench trim with several patches & embroidered logos including "McDonalds," "Good Year" and "Stetson Hats." This Dale Earnhardt Sr. racing suit was autographed in black marker twice by Earnhardt, once on the outside chest with "#3," which he rarely added, and once on the inside chest, where he added "Tala Al" (for Talladega, Alabama). A rarity from a true racing legend, suit shows great use with staining, signatures and inscriptions grade a strong 8. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
5/1/1994 Dale Earnhardt, Sr. Race Victory Worn & Double Autographed Racing Suit From the Winston Select 500 (JSA)
