He played college basketball at Gardner-Webb Junior College and Jacksonville University, leading the Dolphins to the NCAA title game in 1970. During the two years Gilmore played NCAA basketball at Jacksonville, he became one of only five college players ever to average at least 20 points and 20 rebounds over a career. He led the NCAA in rebounding both years, and his career average of 22.7 rebounds per game is still the highest in NCAA Division I history. Inside the front right of the jacket is the “Rawlings” manufacturers size 46 tag with an “XL” tag attached. Adjacent to these is a wash instructions tag. The city name “JACKSONVILLE” is going down the front left side of the jacket in white tackle twill on green satin. On the back if the jacket is the large “Dolphin” logo in white, black, and green embroidery. “42” is written on the inside of the jacket in black marker, as Gilmore’s number was “53.” These jackets were interchangeable. The jacket shows wear and appears to have no alterations of any kind. Accompanied by a LOA from Artis Gilmore.
