Known as the greatest franchise in the history of sports, the NY Yankees have fielded immortal teams in every era. In 1996, the Yankees once again made New York City a magic place in the month of October by defeating the Atlanta Braves in the World Series to bring home the first Championship since 1978 and the first of four over the next five years. This Balfour World Series trophy was presented to a front office employee of the NY Yankees upon winning the World Series in 1996. 12" tall at the highest flag, the trophy features a gold crown atop an arc centerpiece over a silver baseball, surrounded by 28 gold flags with black lettering on stanchions, one for each Major League team. The two World Series teams' press pins (Yankees and Braves) are mounted on small poles on the 6-1/4" diameter black base, in front of the silver baseball. The surrounding gold band reads "1996 World Series, Atlanta Braves vs. New York Yankees.” In overall NRMT condition with only the slightest of wear. Accompanied by a LOA. This item will be expensive to ship.
