The 2004 season was Alex Rodriguez’ first in pinstripes. During this season, he hit 36 home runs while driving in 106. He had 112 runs scored and 28 stolen bases. He became one of only three players in Major League history to compile at least 35 home runs, 100 runs and 100 RBI in seven consecutive seasons. He also became the youngest player ever to reach the 350 HR mark and the third youngest to reach the 1,000 RBI plateau. As it turned out, he would reach both of these career milestones with one swing of the bat. On May 5th, 2004 while on a trip to Oakland to visit the Athletics, A-Rod made history. In the seventh inning with two on and one out, Alex hit a three run bomb to left-center, giving him 350 career home runs and 1000 career RBI. This was THE historic baseball thrown by Mark Mulder of the A’s and bashed by Alex Rodriguez over the wall that day in 2004. Alex has signed the sweet spot of this Official Major League ball in blue ink, a signature that rates a 9. On the south panel directly beneath the signature is an inscription done in black ink by a NY Yankees official which reads “350th H.R. 1000th RBI 3-Run Homerun vs. Mulder 5-4-04 Oakland, CA.” The baseball shows a few major scuff marks as well as dirt stains. This piece of baseball history is accompanied by a hand-signed LOA from Alex Rodriguez as well as a LOA from JSA.
