In a 14-season career, George Scott belted 271 home runs and 1051 RBI's. His nickname was 'Boomer' and he called his glove "black beauty." He wore a necklace which he once identified to a reporter as being composed of "the second baseman's teeth". He was a three-time All-Star, eight time gold glover and is a member of the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame. This Gold Glove award was presented to first basenman George Scott in 1976. The three-tier wood base measures 17" x 7" x 6-1/2" and has a plaque on front which reads "1976 RAWLINGS GOLD GLOVE AWARD Presented To George Scott Honoring His Selection as The Finest In The Field." Adjacent are two "Rawlings" logo's stamped in red. At the front of the third wooden tier is a caricature of Scott etched on a gold plaque. Sitting atop is a gold first basemans glove which is a "Rawlings PROSC21" model. It has been signed by Scott on the inner pocket who inscribed "1976 Gold Glove" all in black marker which rates a near perfect 10. On either side of the glove are two gold baseballs, each signed by Scott and inscribed "1976 Gold Glove" and "8x Gold Glove", respectively. Each is done in black marker and rate an 8 and 6, respectively. The award is in overall EX-MT condition with light scratches on the wood and is accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
