Hall of Famer George "The Iceman" Gervin was a star shooting guard for the ABA's Virginia Squires and San Antonio Spurs, and after the merger the NBA's San Antonio Spurs and Chicago Bulls. Gervin averaged at least 14 points in all 14 of his ABA and NBA seasons, and finished with an NBA career average of 26.2 points per game. His first scoring crown in 1978 was one of the most memorable moments in NBA history. Gervin defeated the Denver Nuggets' David Thompson by seven hundredths of a point (27.22 to 27.15). Although Thompson came up with a memorable performance for the last game of the regular season, scoring 73 points, Gervin maintained his slight lead by scoring 63 points (including an NBA-record 33 in the second quarter). With the scoring crown in hand, he sat out some of the third, and all of the fourth quarter. Gervin went on to lead the NBA in scoring average three years in a row from 1978 to 1980 and again in 1982. George Gervin had the most scoring titles of any guard in league history. On the front tail of the jersey is the "Sand-Knit" manufacturers tag with the size “42” flag tag. The flag tag is falling off. Across the front is "SPURS" in black on grey tackle twill. Below that and on the back is the player number "44" in black on grey tackle twill. Across the back is "GERVIN" in black on grey tackle twill. The jersey shows tremendous game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
