Robert Gordon "Bobby" Orr is considered to be one of the greatest hockey players of all time. He played the majority of his career with the Boston Bruins. Orr won two Stanley Cup championships with the Bruins in 1970 & 1972 and was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP both years. Winning a record eight Norris Trophies as the league's best defenseman, Orr is often credited for revolutionizing his position. He remains the only defenseman to have won the league scoring title with two Art Ross Trophies and holds the record for most points and assists in a single-season by a defenseman. Inside the rear collar of this black road sweater is the “Wilson” manufacturers tag with wash instructions and jersey size “46.” Although the size tag says “46”, the sweater measures to a 50+. It was not an uncommon practice back in these early days that when the manufacturer ran out of a certain size tag, they would use any one they had. On front is the team disc patch with “B” done in gold on black tackle twill on a white tackle twill disc. Player number “4” appears on the back and on both sleeves in gold on white tackle twill which shows nice wear. There are custom elbow pads inside each sleeve. On each shoulder is the team “50th ANNIVERSARY” embroidered disc patch. On the left breast is the alternate Captains “A” done in gold on white tackle twill. The fight strap has been custom cut out of the shirt. The jersey shows nice game-use with numerous team repairs throughout and with the exception of the alterations mentioned appears to have no other alterations of any kind. It is accompanied by a LOA from Milt Byron.
