Original Purple Heart medal awarded to a Private of the U.S. Army’s 4th Armored Division, wounded in Germany on March 16, 1945. Heart-shaped medal within a gold border, 1 3/8” wide containing a profile of George Washington. Above the heart is the coat of arms of George Washington, white shield with two red bars and three red stars between sprays of green leaves. The reverse consists of a raised bronze heart with the words “For Military Merit” below the coat of arms and leaves. Ribbon attached, EXMT with light wear. Also, a Private's jacket, olive drab with sleeve patches, shoulder patches and ribbons, EXMT.
