The 1927 NY Yankees are widely considered the greatest team of all time. At the core of their “Murders Row” line-up was Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. The Bambino and the Iron Horse led the Yanks to a record of 110-44 in 1927 and swept the Pirates in the World Series. As a team that year, the Yanks batted .307, slugged .489, scored 975 runs, and outscored their opponents by a record 376 runs. This black and white original wire photo shows Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig comparing bats during that historic 1927 season. Each is wearing their home pinstripes with no “NY” logo on the left breast. On back, the photo is stamped with the date “JUL 20 1927” along with “ACME NEWS PICTURES.” This snapshot of baseball history measures 8” x 10” and has a few large creases on the left side. It is in VG overall condition.
