Derek Jeter was drafted by the New York Yankees in the first round of the 1992 amateur draft. He started in the Rookie League before advancing to Class A. In just two years in the minors, Jeter collected various awards, including Most Outstanding Major League Prospect and Best Defensive Shortstop. In 1995 he advanced from Class A to Class AAA within the season. Jeter’s first full season in the Big’s was 1996, a season which would bring him the Rookie of the Year Award as well as his first of many World Championships. Jeter is one of three current veterans who have come up through the Yankees organization and played their entire professional careers with the Bronx Bombers. On the left front tail is the “Russell” manufacturers tag with wash instructions and jersey size “46.” Attached is a flag tag with “100% POLYESTER.” Underneath the flag tag is a white tag with “JETER-96.” Adjacent is a MLB hologram sticker numbered “MT 00092701.” On the left breast is the team interlocking “NY” logo done in navy blue tackle twill. On back is player number “2” done in the same tackle twill. No name on the back…of course. On the left sleeve is a black arm band worn in memory of Mel Allen, How about that? Jeter has autographed the front and inscribed “96 ROY” in blue marker rating a 9. The jersey shows nice game-use with wear on the tackle twill and heavy wash wear to the tagging and appears to have no alterations of any kind. It is accompanied by a LOA from JSA for the signature.
