This World Series trophy comes to us from the personal collection of Brian McNamee. We were told by our consignor that this trophy was given directly to McNamee by Roger Clemens. When inter-league play began in 1997, New York baseball fans were thrilled to finally see regular season action between the Mets and Yankees. An even bigger thrill came when the two met in the 2000 World Series, the first “Subway Series” since 1956. The Yankees defeated the Mets in five games for their 26th World Championship and third in a row, and superstar pitcher Roger Clemens was a big part of it. Having come to the Yankees the previous year, Clemens started Game Two and pitched shutout ball for eight innings, with nine strikeouts, no walks and only two hits. 12" tall at the highest flag, the trophy features a silver crown atop an arc centerpiece over a silver baseball, surrounded by 30 silver flags with black lettering on stanchions, one for each Major League team. The two World Series teams' press pins (Yankees and Mets) are mounted on small poles on the 7" diameter black base, in front of the silver baseball. The surrounding silver band reads "World Series Champions, New York Yankees, 2000, Roger Clemens.” It is in overall EXMT condition with light wear and is accompanied by an LOA from Brian McNamee.
