The "NBA's 50th Anniversary All-Time Team," were chosen in 1996 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the NBA. The announcement of the team was undertaken by Commissioner David Stern in 1996 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City, which occupied the site of the former Commodore Hotel where the original NBA charter was signed in 1946. The players were actually assembled in Cleveland during the 1997 All-Star Game Weekend. This incredibly unique piece houses 50 autographed cards, one of each of the 50 Greatest of All-Time. The large frame measures 42-1/2” x 34-1/2” and houses 50 matted and autographed cards, some of which are rare insert cards. Highlights include a George Mikan signed in bold, blue marker rating a strong 9, a Wilt Chamberlain signed in blue marker rating a 9, a Michael Jordan signed in blue marker rating a 9, a Bill Russell signed in blue marker rating a near perfect 10, a Kareem Abdul-Jabbar signed “Abdul-Jabbar” in blue marker rating a 9, a “Pistol” Pete Maravich signed “Pistol Pete” in blue marker rating a 7-8, a Dave DeBusschere signed in black marker rating an 8, a Paul ArIzin signed in blue marker rating an 8-9, a Larry Bird signed in silver marker rating an 8 and a Magic Johnson signed in blue marker rating an 8. All other signatures are done in blue or black marker rating an overall 8. The unique piece is in NM-MT overall condition and is accompanied by a full LOA from JSA.
