Ray Lumpp was a star at New York University in the late 40s. He competed in the 1948 Summer Olympics. He was part of the American men's basketball team, which won the gold medal. From 1948 to 1953, Lumpp played professionally for the NBA's New York Knicks, Indianapolis Jets, and Baltimore Bullets. Lumpp was a 6-1 guard whose main forte was playmaking. After his basketball days ended he was director of the New York Athletic Club and active on the board of the U.S. Olympians Club. On the back inside tail is the “Wilson” manufacturer’s tag. Attached is the size 46 flag tag. On the left is the wash instructions tag. Across the front is “NEW YORK.” Below and on back is the player number “7.” All lettering and numbering is done in blue tackle twill. The jersey shows game-use and besides the manufacturer’s tags falling off appears to have no other alterations of any kind. Accompanied by a Ray Lumpp LOA as well as an additional LOA.
