Billy Martin was hired as Yankees' manager in 1975, and took the Yankees to the World Series in 1976 and 1977, winning in 1977. His number "1" is retired. On the left front tail is the "Wilson" manufacturers size 40 tag with wash instructions. Inside the back collar is the "Martin 77 1" embroidered strip tag, denoting player name, year and set, respectively. Across the front is "NEW YORK". On the back is the retired number "1". All lettering and numbering is done in navy blue on white tackle twill. The jersey shows wear and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
