Home run champion. Media star. Fan favorite. Hero. Legend. These are just a few of the words that have been used to describe the inimitable Babe Ruth, the most celebrated baseball player in history. In fact, the word "Ruthian" has entered the popular vernacular to define "of mammoth proportions." Although Ruth's personality was larger than life, he still had to administer his life, in one way or another, much like the rest of us - going shopping, going to the bank, writing checks, paying bills and the like. This vintage 5-1/2" x 8-1/4" document is a "Request For Prepayment of Premiums To The Equitable Life Assurance Society." The annual premium is payable on the 7th day of October, 1924, with the issued listed as "George H. Ruth." Dated New York, June 25th 1924, it has been signed in black fountain pen by the Babe, "George H. Ruth." The document is EXMT with bold signature that grades a 9. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
