Eddie Tolan was nicknamed the "Midnight Express" and was a sprinter. He set world records in the 100-yard dash and 100-meter event and Olympic records in the 100-meter and 200-meter events. He was the first African-American to receive the title of the "world's fastest human" after winning gold medals in the 100- and 200-meter events at the 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
