This unit was normally mounted on curved hollow metal pipe legs and this provided the perfect level to "shoot" light rays at the target; in this case, an innovative approach was followed whereby they built a rectangular box as though it were the legs, and then mounted the game itself on top of the custom bottom box; it looks good, and to go with the 1962 Seattle World's Fair theme - - they added a rustic look utilizing the bark-covered slat wood over the facia of the stand and around the games structure itself. This rifle game is one in a series of great "light shooting" units whereby the target had a photo-electric cell within it, and the rifle "shot" a small concentrated beam of light at it. In this case, a large ferocious looking bear is mounted on an oval track and he is being chased by a dog as they go round and round; you have a certain number of shots to hit the bear; if you succeed, he stops, stands up, turns and faces you and snarl sounds are heard and his mouth lights up red, and then he completes his turn and chases the dog until you "hit" him again with a light beam and the sequence is repeated again. Your score appears in the upper lit area with the number of hits and if you have scored well, the bottom lites up and gives you a grade of "marksman" or the like; mounted on the stand it is 74" tall x 44" wide x 25" deep; connected by electrical cable to this game is the separate rifle stand with its coin entry system all built into one unit that measures 47" tall (with rifle) x 16" wide x 16" deep; the rifle is a nice wood stock with metal barrel and wired to the rifle stand for its power; coin entry acts as the start for the games; there is even an area to place "change" - - to be ready for the next game! The back door of the rifle stand has been replaced. Overall it is in good working order. Once you play this game, you won't want to put it down. Condition: Excellent. This lot will require additional freight, packaging and shipping fees.
