Earvin "Magic" Johnson had the complete basketball package: he could score, pass, play defense, and was an on-the-court leader. The 6-foot-9 Johnson was the first tall point guard in the NBA. After leading Michigan State to the NCAA title in 1979 and being named the tournament's MVP, Johnson was the first player selected in the NBA Draft. His impact on the league, and on the Lakers, was immediate. In the 1980 NBA Finals, Magic showcased his talents, playing all five positions on the court and leading Los Angeles to the title. He would lead the Lakers to the title three more times in the 1980s and be named Finals MVP three times. Named to 12 All Star teams (game MVP twice), Johnson won league MVP honors three times. When he retired, he ranked first in career assists in the NBA. Named one of the 50 greatest players in NBA history in 1996, Magic was elected to the Basketball HoF in 2002. On the center front tail is the "Tiernan" manufacturers tag. Across the front is "LAKERS." Below that and on the back is the player number "32". Across the back is the player name "JOHNSON". All lettering and numbering is done in purple on white tackle twill. The jersey shows good game-use and there appears to be no alterations of any kind.
