Hall of Famer Mel Blount won four Super Bowls as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a member of the NFL 75TH Anniversary Team, NFL 1980s All Decade Team, five time Pro Bowl selection and is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. On the front left tail is the "Medalist Sand-Knit" manufacturers size 48 tag. This tag has been reinforced with extra glue. The year tag is no longer present, but outline remains. On the front, back and both sleeves is the player number "47" in black tackle twill. An additional 6" of white heavy knit material was added to the tail by the team, enabling the jersey to stay tucked-in. Across the back is the player name "BLOUNT" in yellow on black tackle twill on a white nameplate. This jersey is made out of extra heavy knit material that was used specifically in cold weather games. The jersey shows moderate game-use with team repairs and besides the extra material added and missing year tag, appears to have no other alterations of any kind.
