Hall of Famer Roberto Clemente is one of only 27 Major Leaguers in the vaunted 3,000 hit club, having hit his 3,000th at the end of the 1972 season.  Just three months later, the beloved Pirate rightfielder would tragically lose his life in a plane crash while attempting to deliver aid to Nicaraguan earthquake victims.  In addition to his lifetime .317 average, Clemente also holds a number of Pirate records, including the most hits in back to back games (10), and the most triples in one game (3).  His 12 Gold Gloves are tied with Willie Mays for the most ever by an outfielder, and he accomplished the remarkable feat of hitting a walk-off, inside the park grand slam in 1956, the only one ever in Major League history.  His number 21 was retired by the Pirates after his death.  Clemente wore this home jersey during his final season in 1972.  On the inside left back tail is the "Rawlings" manufacturers size 42 tag. To the right is the wash instructions tag. Across the front is "Pirates." Below on the left and on back is the player number "21." All lettering and numbering is done in black on gold tackle twill. The jersey shows good game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. Accompanied by a LOA from the Pitsburgh Pirates which dates to 1978.
