This rare Topps press plate is a reprint of the one used to print Mickey Mantle rookie cards in 1952. The 19-1/2” x 5” red/orange plate depicts four evenly spaced 1” x 1-1/2” Mantle engravings, which were enlarged on the cards themselves. The engraving on the right also includes the words “First Edition” above the image, and the Topps logo below the image. Mantle signed the bottom portion of the plate in blue sharpie, with the large signature rating a strong 9. Comes with a LOA from JSA. Please note that a correction has been made to this lot and the printed catalog differs from what is online.
